Maison Martin Margiela Is Collaborating With Converse!
Maison Martin Margiela’s collaboration with Converse does not go unnoticed in the world of fashion: the French avant-garde fashion house has given two of the legendary shoe brand's classic kicks an haute couture touch. At frank agterberg/bca we produced an in-store presentation set that could easily meet the requirements of this premium product.
The Chuck Taylor All Star high-tops and the Jack Purcell sneakers are subject to a distinctive Maison Martin Margiela treatment consisting of a manually applied layer of white paint, which through wear and tear produces a crackled effect. As the paint chips off, the underlying original colour is gradually being revealed.
The handmade set of pedestals, which we created in three different heights, and the similar set of shoe risers are totally in line with that look: underneath Maison Martin Margiela’s white top layer the Converse colours seemingly try to break through to the surface, like through a crackled plaster wall. A perfect match for the spectacular effect of the shoes.
Now to be seen in selected high end boutiques in the Benelux.
